TURCHETTE SPONSORS BLOOD DRIVE IN RESPONSE TO DIRE NEED AT LOCAL NJ BLOOD BANK
Fairfield, NJ – On April 16th, Turchette hosted a 4-hour blood drive in the parking lot of its office building on Law Drive in Fairfield. Turchette employees – as well as staff from neighboring companies Maquet and the Polish Slavic Federal Credit Union – graciously volunteered to donate blood yesterday to help a local blood bank who is struggling to maintain an adequate supply of blood and blood products to patients in the area. According to Community Blood Services, now Vitalant, it takes 250 blood donations every day to meet the needs of all of the patients in the more than 30 hospitals they serve throughout New Jersey and New York.
A few facts you may not know…
A single blood donation can help save up to three lives!
Blood donations are used to save around 12,000 lives a day.
An accident victim may need up to 50 units of red blood cells.
A cancer patient may require up to 8 units of platelets per week.
An organ transplant recipient may need up to 40 units of red blood cells, 30 units of platelets and 25 units of plasma.
One out of every 3 people will need blood at some time in their life. You never know when you or someone you love will be the one.
Turchette is very proud of its employees and neighbors for stepping up and taking action to help those in need. #TurchetteCares
